Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

The Manufacturing Engineer (Special Process Accreditation) ensures that all special processes within Indianapolis Operations meet NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) requirements and are audit ready at all times. This role drives compliance, standardization, and continuous improvement while partnering with operations, quality, special process owners, and global engineering authorities. The engineer will lead audit preparation, coordinate external interactions, manage corrective actions, maintain technical documentation, and ensure robust process governance. This position is critical to maintaining Rolls-Royce’s accreditation status and supporting the long-term capability of key aerospace manufacturing processes.

What you will be doing

  • Lead and support NADCAP audit preparation, execution, and post audit follow up across all applicable special processes.
  • Coordinate audits and corrective actions with governing bodies, including NADCAP auditors and other external accreditation authorities.
  • Ensure all special process documentation, procedures, and records meet applicable specifications, standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Conduct internal assessments and gap analyses to verify compliance and identify risks before external audits.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, findings, or internal reviews.
  • Partner with special process owners to maintain process control, configuration management, and adherence to technical standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen special process capability, consistency, and audit performance.
  • Support training, awareness, and governance activities to ensure sustained compliance across all sites.

Basic Qualifications:

  • An Associates of Science degree in Engineering or Technology with 4+ years of experience, OR
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Technology with 2+ years of experience, OR
  • A Master of Science degree in Engineering or Technology, OR
  • JR/PhD in Engineering
  • In lieu of a degree, 6+ years’ of demonstrated experience preparing for and supporting third party, regulatory, or customer audits with a strong understanding of aerospace quality systems, AS9100, and associated compliance frameworks.
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with NADCAP requirements, audits, and special process control.
  • Background in aerospace special processes such as chemical processing, heat treat, non-destructive testing, coatings, and/or welding.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing for and supporting third party, regulatory, or customer audits.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality systems, AS9100, and associated compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical specifications, standards, and process requirements.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams and drive accountability for compliance and documentation accuracy
